Frequently asked questions.

Why is your beef so tender?

Our dedication to making the highest quality beef products for our customers starts before birth and carries all the way through the entire supply chain.  We carefully select the best black Angus bulls to use on our cowherd.  We use a DNA test on every calf born, to identify those calves that have the best genetic potential for excellent meat quality.  From there, we provide the optimal environment for these calves to thrive.  Our cowboys and cowgirls practice the best standards for animal welfare, care, feeding, and handling.  Couple that with the fact that we never use any additional growth hormones or beta-agonist feed additives. All of our cattle spend their entire life within our single-source, integrated system, giving us full control and responsibility for the product we produce.  All of that together allows K4 Beef to be a naturally tender product for you to enjoy.

What does Single Source mean?

Single sourcing occurs when a company chooses one supplier to provide all of its products, materials, parts, and components, even when there are other suppliers that can provide the same goods.

Our beef comes from our ranch, and our ranch only. The cattle producing your beef are born and raised on our ranches.  We can ensure the integrity of our product by monitoring and controlling the care given and processes managed from birth to box.

What is the origin of your beef?

Our beef comes directly from cattle we raise on K4 Ranches in Arizona and across the Southwest. The beef is single-sourced, meaning cattle are born, raised, and finished on the same operation.

What breed of cattle do you raise?

We use 100% black Angus bulls and our cow herd is predominantly Angus.

What does USDA Verified Traceability mean?

Ear tags with special technology allow us to trace cattle from birth to the box. Our process is verified by the USDA and routinely audited by an approved third-party company.

Do you offer grass-fed beef?

We do not use the Grass-fed Beef Claim. However, all of our cattle are born and raised on grasses that are native to the ranches we operate. The cattle that go into our branded program graze on grass for the majority of their life but spend the last 200+ days being fed a high-energy grain ration, providing the consumer with the highest quality and most tender product possible.

Do your cattle get antibiotics and vaccinations?

Yes. First and foremost, we wholeheartedly believe that proper preventative medicine is paramount to a successful animal welfare program. We feel it is our responsibility to give all the cattle born on our ranches the best opportunity to live a healthy life and to be properly cared for while on the ranch. We employ our own veterinarians and animal health consultants to help us put together an extensive vaccination program for all of our cattle.

What is environmental stewardship?

It is a holistic management of the environment and ecosystem that exists on our ranches, that our cowboys and cowgirls oversee every single day. Cattle are a very important part of a thriving ecosystem all across rangelands in the US. They are one of our best fire prevention assets. Having a ruminant digestive system allows them to convert many different forage/plant-based feedstuffs into energy, which many animals can’t do. The way they graze promotes healthy grass growth, and when properly managed, can stimulate the proliferation of good grass species. In addition to this, there are many other important roles cattle play in a vibrant ecosystem, especially in the Southwestern US. It is our responsibility to properly manage these environments and ecosystems, to provide a flourishing rangeland for our cattle and all of the other species that inhabit it.

What is Diamond A Exclusive?

Diamond A Exclusive is our own line of Premium Choice graded beef. While most Premium Choice programs use the upper 2/3 of the Choice grade, K4 Ranches uses only the upper 1/3 of the Choice grade to meet the standard for Diamond A Exclusive line. Diamond A Exclusive represents our commitment and dedication to superior quality. The amount of marbling is very close to Prime and coupled with K4 Ranches’ naturally tender beef, you will find it is just as good as most Prime-graded beef on the market.

Can anyone purchase your beef?

We offer our beef to wholesale buyers who have the same passion for naturally tender, traceable, single-sourced, premium-graded, ranch-raised beef.

We offer the same product in a variety of cuts packaged frozen and vacuum sealed. Consumers can purchase in-store in Prescott, at local Farmers Markets, as well as online at K4 Gourmet Beef.
